This delicious, Provence like Rosé comes from Xinomavro vines from Alpha Estates Hedgehog vineyard in north western Macedonia
Alpha Estate was created in 1997 by viticulturist Makis Mavridis and oenologist Angelos Latridis located in the Amyndeon region in the northwest Macedonia. A modern gravity fed winery nestles amongst the vines, so the grapes have little distance to travel.
This delicious, Provence like Rosé comes from Xinomavro vines from their Hedgehog vineyard situated at 690m above sea level, with sandy clay soil over limestone. A north facing exposure and the nearby Lake Petron keep it cool during the hot summers. The grapes are destemmed and fermented whole in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks with just a short time on the skins to leach out the delicate colour. After fermentation, the wine is aged for two months on its lees with occasional stirring. Fresh flowers, red fruits and stony notes on the nose and a crisp palate of raspberry, stone fruit and mineral sophisticated palate with plenty of length and a nice dry finish, this will impress.
