The Citari Estate sits amongst the rolling hill just south of Lake Garda and is run by brother and sister Maria Giovanna and Francesco Mascini. The Lugana Cochiglia comes from a single vineyard planted with 100% Turbiana di Lugana, 25 year old vines, on clay and limestone, rich in mineral salts and fossil shells - thus the name. The grapes are hand harvested into small crates with several passes through the vines and then fermented in stainless steel and left for 6 months on its lees for extra depth of flavour. This is very attractive with ripe apple and peach notes with a saline mineral freshness and lots of length.
