Château La Garde Blanc 2018 Pessac-Leognan
A top quality white Graves highlighting the comlexity gained from twinning Sauvignon and Semillon
La Garde dates from the late 17th century when the Chateau was built, near Martillac in the south of the Pessac-Leognan part of the Graves. Producing both red and White from a single plot of vines. The Sauvignon Blanc obviously a leading role in the blend and is sourced from a deep vein of limestone clay totally unique to the appellation. The Sauvignon develops an extremely precise aromatic expression, which enhances the more generous Semillon cultivated on gravel. The grapes are crushed and macerated on their skins under inert gas before being run in oak barrels, 15% new, for fermentation and a further 9-12 months aging.
