Chateau La Gurgue 2016 Margaux
This excellent little known Margaux estate is one to watch. Elegant and polished with truffley dark berries and herbs on the nose, a good structured palate with nice length and balance, drinking now but will age very well.
This excellent little-known Margaux estate is one to watch, with vines in two sites one bang next door to Ch. Margaux and the other on sandier gravels near Soussons to the north. With a multi-talented owner in Claire Villars, vines replanted in 1988 now coming into maturity and a new winery built in 1992, this has Classic Margaux elegance and polish and will tickle many people’s fancy. Planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot , the wines are fermented in tank then spend a year in oak barrels 25% new. Truffley dark berries and herbs on the nose, a good structured palate with nice length and balance, drinking now with some air but will age very well.
