Szamorodni is literally translated as 'as it comes' and can produce off dry to sweet Tokaji's depending how much botrytised grapes are used in the blend - this is a sweet one, so lovely honeyed fruit but more lemony acidity and freshness than a richer more raisiny Aszu. Great value.
The top Tokaji house of Disznókö make this delightfully fresh dessert wine from a gently sloping single vineyard site in the south of the region, here the old volcanic clay soils and south east facing aspect give richness and depth to the Furmint,75%, Hárslevelü 15% and Zéta 10% grapes. Selected part bunches of fully botrytised fruit picked in batches between the end of October and mid-November. The bunches are destemmed and crushed, with a long maceration on the skins before a cool fermentation and aged year in old 225lr oak casks.
