Quinta da Fonte Souto was bought by the Symington Family of Port fame in 2017; situated 500m up on the slopes of the Sao Mamede Mountains in Portlegre in the far north of the Alentejo close to the border with Spain. With Granite soils, a cooler climate and oodles of winemaking talent the Florao their entry level red is a winner. Made from classic Alentejo blend of 32% Aragonez or Tempranillo, 25% Trincadeira, 22% Cabernet sauvignon, 19% Alfrocheiro and 2% Alicante Bouchet aged in old 400l oak barrels. Ripe forest fruits with hints of clove and bay with perky fresh tannins, drinking well.
