This old Stellenbosch estate was founded in 1692 and owned since 1986 by the Mackenzie family. The wines and vineyards have been overseen by winemaker Carl Schultz since 1994. Their chardonnay is picked early in the morning over 7 days each parcel is vinified separately in a mix of new to 3 year old French oak barrels where it rests for 10 months before careful selection and blending final filtration and bottling. This offers a classic mix of new world fruit peach and hints of the exotic but old world freshness, acidity and balance oak, drinking really well. Top quality for a great price!
