Peter Barry first planted two Assyrtiko vines on his Clare Valley estate in 2010 having fallen in love with the grape on the island of Santorini in 2006. By 2011 he had 658 cuttings from his two mother vines which he planted out in 2012 the first fruit was harvested in 2014 making a massive 15 litres! Roll forward to the 2018 vintage- now in regular production- this is a fascinating example of the complex dry mineral Assyrtiko Grape, makes a very attractive aperitif or would be stunning with oysters or shell fish.
