Weingut Waldschütz Fels Am Wagram Grüner Veltliner 2019 Wagram
Reinhard Waldschütz's Grüner Veltliner is immediately impressive with flowers and yellow plums on the nose and a creamy mineral rich long dry palate.
The Waldschütz winery dates to 1784 and is situated in Elsarn, in the north of the Kamptal region with vineyards in both Kamptal and nearby Wagram. Owned and run by Reinhard Waldschütz since 1994, recently his son Markus has started to take over the wine making.
Wagram is famous for its deep Loess soils, old prehistoric windblown dust or finely ground glacier dust that is high in minerals and water retentive ideal for the thirsty Gruner Veltliner vines and give a creaminess and minerality to the wines.
Reinhard’s Fels Am Wagram Grüner Veltliner is handpicked as late as possible, without botrytis, from his three Cru vineyards and left to macerate for twelve hours before being gently pressed and given a long cool fermentation in stainless steel resting on their lees for a further 9 months before bottling. This is immediately impressive with flowers and yellow plums on the nose and a creamy mineral rich long dry palate.
